Hall Floor Design
Wood or tile flooring are great in the hallway because they’re easily washable, but if you’re looking for something a little softer on the feet a carpet is the obvious choice. Carpets also muffle the sound of people running up and down stairs. Choose a hard wearing, good quality wool blend, particularly on stairs to avoid it going bald across the front of the treads. Other options include natural floor coverings such as sea grass or coir which look clean and contemporary and are incredibly hard wearing.
Colour the hall
Hallways are a great place to use bold colours because you tend to be just passing through. You can also use the colour in the hall to offer insight to your personality, set the tone for the rest of your house, and tie the whole house together and chosing a single colour through the central area can be very effective.
Yellow hall is a great idea to make the area bright, welcoming and compensate for any lack of natural light.
Red and other strong colours are popular providing immediate impact and looks great as a floor covering. If you’ve chosen a dark carpet use with white or light wall colour hallway so it isn’t overpowering and doesn’t make the room feel more cramped.
Blues and purples can feel cold so chose warmer shades or mix with warmer shades so it doesn’t become an unwelcoming area.

White is easiest to coordinate with other areas of the house but remember hall walls take a lot of battering so make sure your paint finishes are both washable and durable.
